In Church

The VCRJ hold meetings in different churches because of the respectful atmosphere that a church exudes, and it encourages our participants to be more aware of how they act and their surroundings.

The often recited phrase in the Lord’s Prayer, “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven” speaks of what is to be in this world. The Sermon on the Mount provides a concrete message about how this is possible. Jesus describes punitive justice, i.e., an eye for an eye, as the old covenant. He says that he brings us a new covenant, a different way of responding to conflict: love even your enemies. The role of the church in making Earth as it is in Heaven is not to be underestimated.  Restorative justice is walking the walk, following in the footsteps of Christ.
